T1 Processing:
These posts describe some of the most important steps in preprocessing T1 weighted MRI scans for statistical analysis. The focus is on the use of advanced normalization tools (ANTs) normalize and register images in order to produce images that can later be statistically analyzed. Automated production of diffeomorphic, cortical thickness, and automated tracing of regions of interest (ROIs) are produced through these processes.


Statistics:
These posts demonstrate how to perform basic statistics with an emphasis on the application of statistics to neuroimaging. Much of this is still under development.

Making a Brain Template

My last post was on how to obtain a representative sample to create a brain template. This post shows how to create the actual template. This step is fairly straightforward because most of the heavy lifting is already performed by antsMultivariateTemplateContstruction.sh . Preparing for the MCAT

Several times I’ve been asked for advice on preparing for the MCAT from other premed students. There are a lot of resources out there and it’s really hard to filter through what will work best. To make matters more difficult, everyone has different needs when preparing for the MCAT. This means it’s not as clear as getting the best (most expensive) resources. In other words, there is no list somewhere that will tell you exactly what to do. That’s why I think it may be best if I start by giving you a little background on how I learn and what worked best for me and then review the resources I used. Like most premed students, I typically got A’s (with the exception of a B in one of my religion classes). If I didn’t get an A on a test I would review  what I got wrong until I could take a variation on the same material to get an A. Brain Segmentation

Once you have a brain template for your population and it has the proper priors you’re ready to actually get to work on the entire population. You’ll be able to get cortical thickness, segmentation, and warp images from what follows (and much more).
